Teacup to God
"Teacup to God" explores the concept of dreams and reality in the realm of requests. It's based on a stimulating conversation with an elder who challenged me to "not hold a teacup up to God," and in essence that asking small is an insult to God's greatness. The conversation made me wonder how I ask for things in the spiritual realm and what they look like visually. I pondered my own reality, my dreams and asks. And through these personal works, would like to invite others to do the same. I asked and prayed and believed for a full-tuition scholarship at a young age, because I knew that was the only way I was going off the college. And received it. I wasn't until years later that I realized how rare that feat is. But other dreams are yet in queue. I'm single. No kids. Living at home with my parents. Under the telescope, this wealth is a priceless currency. The gift of freedom, time, mobility, even selfishness. This show is my visible representation of that loaded review and encourages others to examine their asks of the divine from a different lens.
