30 x 57 inch canvas with acrylic and French playing cards. 
 
This piece is my take on James Baldwin with a more boyish grin.  It imagines the peace he would have enjoyed if not forced to inhabit a world of bias, hate and prejudice.  There's a cheshire cat hidden in the background with loosely sketched French roses.  I wanted to honor him during my residency at Chateau d'Orquevaux.  The table in the front is modeled after one of the tables on the grounds that I enjoyed sitting at while sipping my concoction -- a green drink imbued with supplement powders.
